ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE NO. 418
Transition To Retirement
- The Board accepts the practice of rehiring teachers on a temporary basis for a period of up to six months following their official retirement from the Board.
- Teachers wishing to benefit from extended employment beyond their official retirement date of December 31 are to make application prior to November 15 of the school year in which they plan to retire.
- Applications are to be submitted to the Director after consultation with the Director or designate.
- The application is to state the anticipated date of retirement, and the requested term of temporary employment beyond the official date of retirement.
- The Director is to inform the applicants within fifteen days whether the application has been approved or denied. Applications which are approved will be approved subject to the Board receiving the official letter of resignation from the teacher, and the teacher accepting and signing a contract of temporary employment with the Board.
